Calvin and Hobbes
This comic is apart of the agent of socialization of school and. This comic deals with Calvin not liking math then goes to talk about how it is like a religion. This falls under the school agent because it deals with beliefs found in school. Such as the idea of disliking math or trying to find a way not to do it. Most children at school dislike math so inform others that they dislike it, which will affect other students to follow that same idea. Also how school teaches and presents math will affect how a child will perceive math.
The author uses quite a lot of English devices to present his information. One used for the primary of the comic is analogy. When Calvin compares math to a religion is the prime example where this device is used. I believe the overall theme to this comic is that most children dislike math. As most children do, Calvin finds way to get out of doing math. Calvin’s idea to make it a religion so he can proclaim himself to be a math atheist is quite amusing.
